Foundation Background & Mission Statement
The Martha Maher-Garcia Memorial Foundation was established in 2016 in memory and honor of Martha Maher-Garcia, a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, leader in the workplace and Rochester community, and a warrior in her seven-year battle with cancer. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
The Foundation seeks to pay tribute to Martha’s legacy of kindness, perseverance, and hope by supporting women in higher education and families affected by cancer. To this end, the Foundation supports these missions by:
Funding college scholarships for working mothers who, like Martha, decided to improve their families’ futures by pursuing higher education.
Partnering with community organizations to provide financial resources for families affected by cancer.
Raising funds to support innovative research into discovery of a cure for breast cancer.
The Martha Maher-Garcia Memorial Foundation strives to make a real difference in the lives of working mothers and families in the Rochester area and, like Martha, represent a beacon for a better tomorrow.
